ISOC Individual Membership
Membership LevelsISOC offers two individual membership levels: the Sustaining Member and the Global Member. Both levels give individuals opportunities to actively participate in ISOC's activities. Individual memberships are for people who share the goal of supporting ISOC's Mission and Principles and agree to ISOC's code of conduct. Individual members get access to ISOC's conferences, educational events, announcements, briefings, and newsletters. They are invited to participate in ISOC's surveys and discussion groups. Individual members can also participate in ISOC Chapters around the world, helping ISOC to continue to have a global impact by reaching out locally. The Sustaining Member level includes the additional benefit of allowing individuals to participate in the election of one ISOC Board of Trustee Member, once 500 sustaining members join together under the Organizational Membership plan.
Participate as an Individual MemberYou can make a difference in the future of the Internet. Join the Internet Society and make sure the Internet is part of your future.
Join a Local ChapterAll ISOC Sustaining Members and Global Members are encouraged to join a chapter either based near you, or which shares your special interests. If there isn't one, start one! Chapters give you the best way to participate in local Internet activities. The Member Briefings are sent (via email) to all Members and Associate Members on a regular basis. Regional BureausWhen you join ISOC, you join a global community. ISOC is now establishing regional bureaus as a focal point for ISOC regional activities including education, capacity building, and policy initiatives. The regional bureaus will work with ISOC Chapters, members, and the regional Internet community to understand and address local issues relating to the development of the Internet. ![]() Chart with members by region, (March 2008) ISOC's current regional bureaus Consider donating to help advance our workOver the years, many individuals have made personal donations to ISOC and we continue to welcome this support. You can choose to direct your donation either to advance the programs and activities of the Internet Society or to support specific programs such as the Jonathan B. Postel award. Individuals making these donations will be recognized as Patrons, Benefactors, Supporters and Contributors in applicable ISOC publications and on our web site. Please note that donations to ISOC do not constitute annual membership fees. For those wishing to both become members and donate, it is possible to allocate some portion of your donation to membership. For more details please contact membership@isoc.org.
