Letter of award from 2002 Postel Award Committee to Steve Wolff
Dear Steve,
In recognition of your pivotal role in the development of the Internet and your lengthy and honorable service to the Internet community, The Internet Society is pleased to select you for the 2002 Jonathan B. Postel Service Award.
The Postel Award is awarded annually to one or more people who have made critical contributions to the development of the Internet with the selfless, cooperative spirit exemplified by Jon Postel. Your contributions include guidance of three generations of NSFNET following the lead of CSNet, creation of regional networks which stimulated the Internet service provider industry, unification of the U.S. government's multiple academic and research backbone networks, and opening the Internet to general use. These contributions have profoundly changed the world, and it is our distinct honor and pleasure to acknowledge your work. The Award committee, Lynn St. Amour, president of ISOC, and I all congratulate you.
Steve Crocker
