Postel Service Award. Postel Service Award. A founding member of the Internet Society, Wolff is considered one of the "fathers of the Internet" and was directly involved with its development and evolution. He was awarded the Postel Service Award in recognition of his significant contributions and long-standing service to the Internet community. Read more... 2000 - Scott BradnerNewly elected ISOC Chair, Brian Carpenter presented the second Jonathan B. Postel Service to Scott Bradner during a Plenary session of the INET 2000 conference in Yokohama, Japan. Scott was unable to be present during the ceremony - as usual he was unselfishly working on Internet standards issues elsewhere in the world! Scott has been a virtual omnipresent individual in IETF activities for as many years as anyone can remember. He steadfastly works for the good of the Internet and the continued excellence of the IETF. His efforts are reflected in the phenomenal success of both. The award was accepted by Lois Postel, Jon's mother, at INET'99. In her moving acceptance speech, Mrs. Postel reminded the crowd that it was up to them to ensure that the Net's tradition of open standards and open processes endure "because it's the right thing to do." |
